Internet is limited in public places to 1/2 per customer, gasoline is hardly available, and the lines are literally miles long. Streets are blocked for that reason and the police have more then there hands full to manage the crowds every where to get to all kinds of places, many intersections have no lights....Traffic is horrendous. And there is still no power. People are getting slowly impatient. Reality hits now everywhere. I wish I could do something, but the only thing is to hang in there and use as little energy as possible.
We walk a lot now, it makes more sense. Half of our neighborhood has moved away to friends, family or hotels. It's a little strange at night. The sky is dark and we can see the almost full moon and stars. Which is rather beautiful. : )Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08572400688345132982noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2012793195670980581.post-78097531590046246822012-11-01T08:11:29.020-07:002012-11-01T08:11:29.020-07:00Victoria,

Amazing, how much we miss suddenly, we are indeed tremendously dependent on electricity. And we do not have a gas stove, so there is nothing, no heat, warm water or cooking. But we do sit around the fireplace at night, burning with a crackling log fire and read, tell stories and play piano by candle light....The kids have blanket piled high and we feel like we just slipped between the pages of a Austen novel. The Dashwood sisters cuddled up like we do now....
Yes, and we are safe and grateful for the storm has passed. And for your kind thoughts and words of support!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08572400688345132982noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2012793195670980581.post-78542831757084661912012-11-01T06:13:09.607-07:002012-11-01T06:13:09.607-07:00I'm happy you and your family are safe....sorr...I'm happy you and your family are safe....sorry for the loss of power and tree down. Thanks to a large bookstore nearby with coffee and online service we are able to stay connected for a moment. I've got a few of my friends who live in New York and they also emailed me to say that they had no electricity at the moment. My heart goes out to you. The author, O. Henry, once remarked that "We made the climate. But the weather is something that thurst upon us". He's absolutely right. I hope you will keep safe and also I hope everyone will keep an eye on each other in the neighbourhood in the time of needs. My thoughts and prayers are with you and may god bless you and keep you safe and sound. Please keep us updated with the news. The damage from the tree looks awful but one can only imagine how much worse that could have been. Clearly, the force of the storm must have been immense. How incredibly frightening this all must have been.

We do so hope that things may be returned to normal for you soon, although the scale of the damage makes this an enormous task for those involved. At least you are all safe and well and for that we are thankful and relieved.

May the love that is in our hearts for you and your family comfort you through these dark days. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and to all of those who are still in distress.Jane and Lance Hattatthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16831890261259302647noreply@blogger.com
